Why is it important to take your business online?


When you are online you get to share your passion with the world.

According to Wikipedia as of June 2018, 55.1% of the world’s population has internet access. In 2015, the International Telecommunication Union estimated about 3.2 billion people, or almost half of the world’s population, would be online by the end of the year. The internet is the modern day gold rush. Many people get onto the internet in such of products, services and information.


With just a phone, tablet, laptop or a personal computer and Wi-Fi you can run your business from anywhere in the world. You can be at home, in a hotel, on the beach or on a cruise ship. You do not need an office.


You are the master of your time. You can choose what days to work and for how long. You get to be efficient and not waste time on office meetings, unnecessary bureaucracy and office politics. You can even set time to play your favorite online game. With all the freedom presented to you, you will need to learn and acquire time management skills to be successful.

Anyone in the world can reach your business any day and at anytime. You get to be borderless, work 24/7 and therefore make money 24/7. You can target to sale to any continent, country, region or community and develop a different marketing strategy for every target group.




When thinking of starting your own business you probably spent most of your time thinking of what the requirements are for starting your business. You will need capital to pay for labor, office space hired, insurance required by law, licenses, furniture, machinery and equipment, trucks and other overhead costs. Most of these barriers to entry are not present in an online business and you will only be required to build a website, register your domain name, host your website and invest your time.


You get to skip on overhead costs such as office rent, security, electricity bills and other costs associated with having an office. Storage, warehousing and inventory costs can also be avoided. Other costs you get to avoid are costs such as buying paper, other stationary and commuting.




Online you can be whoever you wish to be. You can be the next business consultant, coach and trainer, inspirational speaker and motivator, marketer or designer.

The internet provides a number of other ways to earn additional revenue.


You can earn additional revenue online by becoming a freelance blogger, building an email list, through affiliate marketing, running advertisements, selling online products and services and from building partnerships.
